Back in the early 1990s, when the Internet first emerged as a cultural phenomenon, technology gurus reckoned that a brilliant new intellectual era was here and that Americans would soon be able to search for all sorts of sophisticated information online. Just over a decade later, it turns out, the most popular search subjects include the Cartoon Network, Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson, experts tell United Press International's Networking.
