(PhysOrg.com) -- Fujitsu is releasing more information about their upcoming Fujitsu Stylistic Q550, a Windows 7 based tablet that was first debuted at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2011. The tablet, which is expected to be released in April of this year will sport the Intel "Oak Trail" Atom processor, which is specifically designed with the needs of the tablet user in mind.

The specifically business-oriented tablet will run on Professional. In addition to supporting the traditional touch-based method of input, the tablets will also have the capability for pen-based input. Well, some models will have that option. The tablet will also offer an optional smartcard reader. The company claims that this is an additional security add-on for business users. This approach is part of a larger Microsoft strategy to bill their products as more secure than iPads, despite Windows products long history with .

The Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 is pretty light, weighing in at about 1.5 pounds (or 690 grams for those of you who prefer the metric system) when the machine has a regular-capacity battery inserted. The Stylistic Q550 also has the option of a large-capacity battery as well that will give users up to 10 hours of , according to the release.

Users in the USA and the the rest of the West have no information about device availability or price at this time. The April release date is for users in Japan who can expect to pay 90,000 yen (roughly $1,100) for the touch-based input only version, and 100,000 yen ( or roughly $1,222) for the version that also accepts input from a pen or stylus. The pen-based input model will not be on sale until May of this year.
