(PhysOrg.com) -- According to sources inside the company, Lenovo is hoping to release a 23-inch tablet PC by the end of this year. The source, William Cai, is a senior specialist in marketing at a Lenovo. The information was released during a discussion at the 2011 Gadget Show Live.

Despite the fact that 23 inches is a fairly standard size for a monitor, this would represent a significant increase in size, when compared to previous tablet offerings made by Lenovo.

When it comes to tablets, size may be a good feature in terms of reducing screen strain, but it also creates a series of new challenges. One of the most pressing of those challenges is . A larger screen will undoubtedly consume more to illuminate than a smaller screen. This will mean that either the machine will need to have a larger battery, or perhaps that the machine will work in conjunction with a docking station, as several blogs have speculated.

It is also possible that Lenovo will make the 23 inch tablet part of a convertible system. The company has previously done this with their ThinkPad X Series Tablet, which is no longer available for sale on the site.

No information on a potential release date, or a price point have been released at this time. At this time, all that the company has said is that it would like to release this 23 inch tablet by the end of this calender year, but none of the plans are solid.
