HTC Titan's a Mango monster: 4.7-inch Windows phone

If you can't decide between a small Web tablet and a smartphone, you can now compromise with an enormous phone.

HTC recently unveiled its Titan, a smartphone with a whopping 4.7-inch diagonal screen that's its largest ever for a phone. Yet it's only 9.9 millimeters thick (0.39 inches) and weighs 5.6 ounces.

The Titan is based on the new "Mango" version of the Windows Phone platform and will be released in October. Prices and carriers weren't disclosed in the release, only the specs.

Inside there's a 1.5 gigahertz processor, 16 gigabytes of storage and quad band radios. It has an 8 megapixel camera with F2.2 lens that captures 720p video, plus a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for videochat.

The phone looks to be one of the flagship Mango phones coming out this fall - alongside the Nokia "Sea Ray" - and going head-to-head with the new iPhone.

HTC also unveiled the Radar, a more conventional Windows Mango phone, with a 3.8-inch screen and front-facing video camera.

Both have aluminum cases and dedicated camera buttons.

Also announced was the HTC Jetstream tablet, a 3G/4G LTE Android model with a 10-inch screen that's being offered by AT&T. It's $700 with a two-year contract.
