Briefs: Verizon, Yahoo! tie up in Internet access

Verizon and Yahoo! said Thursday they will start up a new Internet service.
The Verizon Yahoo! for FiOS service will allow high-speed broadband connection with premium features from the Internet search engine at no extra cost.

The service is available this week in 15 states: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas and Virginia. It will be available in Washington later this year.

There are three tiers of the service available, depending on the speed. The fastest will cost $180 per month, while the basic connection will be $35 a month.
