Briefs: NTT, Telifonica tie international data net
Telecom carriers NTT Communications and Telefonica International will link their international data networks and extend service across much of the world.
The interconnection agreement announced Thursday will expand the coverage of both Japan's NTT and Europe-based Telefonica International Wholesale Services.
An NTT official said the deal would specifically boost the company's ability to handle traffic between Japan and Latin America.
"Particularly, it will enable us to deliver consistent service by providing end-to-end management solutions, including the design of customer premises equipment across our and our partners' networks," said NTT Vice President Takashi Ooi.
Telefonica said its new ties with NTT would strengthen its service in the Asia Pacific region.
