Briefs: Yahoo! to research in Spain, Chile
Yahoo! said Monday it will extend its research operations to Spain and Chile.
The Internet search engine said that both centers will be led by Ricardo Baeza-Yates, a Web retrieval and mining expert.
The Barcelona office will be run in conjunction with the Center for Innovation Barcelona Media, which is supported by the Catalan government and has ties to the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
The Santiago office, meanwhile, will be run in conjunction with the Center for Web Research, which is funded by the Chilean Planning Ministry and hosted by the University of Chile.
