Bird flu kills one in Vietnam

Bird flu has killed a 20-year-old Vietnamese man in the country's first confirmed avian flu case in two years, it was reported Sunday.
The man fell ill in northern Ha Tay province on June 2 and died at a hospital two days later, the BBC reported. The man's family reportedly raised fighting cocks and ducks.

Bird flu in recent years has killed 43 people in Vietnam. The H5N1 bird flu strain has killed more than 190 people in several countries since 2003, said the World Health Organization. Indonesia has been hardest hit with 80 deaths from the virus.

Bird flu has been reported in 18 Vietnamese cities and provinces since May, China's Xinhua news agency said.
