Briefs: New Dell laptops pick up Vodafone wireless
January 24, 2006Dell notebook computers sold in Europe will be specially fitted to make use of Vodafone wireless broadband networks.
An optional feature available later this year will give Dell customers High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) to third-generation (3G) wireless that will be about four times faster than most 3G services.
Dell said the feature will remain compatible with GPRS and UMTS wireless and is the first to offer PC buyers access to multiple wireless carriers.
