Briefs: Cingular gets restraining order vs. broker
Cingular Wireless won a restraining order Wednesday to stop eFindOutTheTruth.com from obtaining its customer records.
The U.S. District Court in Atlanta approved the temporary order that will prevent eFindOutTheTruth.com from obtaining and selling customer records and using the name or identity of any employee or customer.
Last month Cingular filed a civil lawsuit alleging that eFindOutTheTruth.com unlawfully obtained and disseminated Cingular customer records.
"Data brokers should know that Cingular will persist in its aggressive fight to protect customer privacy," said Joaquin Carbonell, general counsel at Cingular. "We will continue this battle in the courts, by working with law enforcement, and by supporting the enactment of tough new laws that put an end to cell phone records ripoffs," he added.
