Sambirano chocolate bars are recalled

July 9, 2007

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has announced the voluntary recall of Scharffen Berger Kumasi Sambirano chocolate bars because of mislabeling.

The Artisan Confections Co. initiated the recall of the 68 percent cacao pure dark chocolate bars because they may contain undeclared milk, posing a health risk to people with an allergy or sensitivity to milk, the FDA said.

The 3-ounce bars are wrapped in green packaging and were sold nationwide over the Internet and through specialty retail outlets. All lot numbers of the item are covered by the recall.

Consumers who have purchased the candy bars can contact the company at 866-608-6944.
