BT Exact gains ISO 9001 certification

January 30, 2006

British Telecom's BT Exact unit has obtained ISO 9001 certification for its short-turnaround IT planning services.

The certification means that critical international standards are met by BT despite the accelerated pace that BT Exact uses to establish IT programs for BT Group's customers.

"Agile development is an essential component of that effort," explained BT Exact Chief Executive Officer Al-Noor Ramji. "It enables us to reduce cycle times, deliver better results for our customers and adhere to rigorous guidelines for return on investment."

The certification was issued after Lloyd's Register of Quality Assurance audited the BT Exact program.

BT said in a release Monday that the BT Exact methodology is a crash effort to come up with a solution to a customer's IT needs in 90 days. The return on investment is assessed every 90 days, and unprofitable projects are cancelled.
