Tuna and egg salad sandwiches are recalled

August 8, 2007

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall of 4,219 units of Cloud's Tuna Salad and Egg Salad Sandwiches due to possible contamination.

CFS Operating Ltd. of Longview, Texas, said the sandwiches might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. The bacteria can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The recalled sandwiches are labeled "Cloud's Tuna Salad" and "Cloud's Egg Salad" and are packaged in flexible plastic film and plastic wedges.

Recalled are Cloud's Tuna Salad Sandwich on White Bread, 5 ounces, date coded 62607-72507 and Cloud's Egg Salad Sandwich on White Bread, 5 ounces, date coded 41907-72507

The sandwiches were sold in convenience stores in East Texas, West Louisiana and Southwest Arkansas.

Consumers with questions can contact company representative David Floyd at 903-758-7011.
