Meningitis outbreak in Indiana school dist

Seven cases of viral meningitis have been reported in Indiana's Boone County.
A health educator for the Boone County Health Department said all the cases involved students but would not say with schools were affected, The Indianapolis Star said Wednesday.

Symptoms of meningitis include a fever, severe headache, stiff neck and sometimes nausea and light sensitivity. Because the symptoms of viral meningitis and the more serious bacterial meningitis are the same, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control encourages people who suspect they may have a strain of the disease to see their doctor as soon as possible, the newspaper said.
