Sony is set to release the latest member of the Cyber-shot family. It has 4GB of internal flash memory and a host of improved features. The release date for Japan is late November and the rest of the world will get its chance to buy by years end.

The consumer friendly Cyber-shot by Sony has a new addition to its family, the DSC-T2. The new member features 4GB of internal flash memory It will go on sale in Japan in late November and the world will get it by years end. It will sell in the range of $360.

According to Digital World Tokyo, the current specs are in Japanese. The 8.1 megapixel sensor on the VGA setting would allow tens of thousands of pictures. However, the Sony Infolithium battery will probably only allow 300 shots per battery charge. The other great feature is the ability to record MPEG movies for about 10 minutes at 640 X 480 and 30 frames per second. The video out put allows full 1080 display.

The other features incorporated by the new Cyber-shot is the face detection soft ware that will allow the camera to pick up on smiling faces. This is known as the Smile Shutter function. There is also a skin tone detector that focuses on human objects over inanimate functions. These automatic features may be disabled. The video out put allows full 1080 high-definition display on any HD TV.

The image stabilization function is greatly improved. The zoom is a standard 3X with ISO sensitivity rated up to 3200. The back of the DSC-T2 has a touch screen that measures 2.7 inches. The newly improved touch screen has a calendar and memory function that appears to add ease in categorizing and indexing photos. There is a feature that allows the user to pick favorites and categorize photos on the calendar and a scrap book. It allows the user to insert tags on the shots by utilizing the touch screen.

Notwithstanding all of the great improvements the new Sony DSC-T2 is sharp in appearance. The body weighs 156 grams. It comes in attractive colors of pink, black, blue, green and white. The focus feature closes up flush against the body of the unit making it highly portable. Memory sticks are available for those that may need something more than 4GB of internal memory.
