Briefs: Primus launches Australia VoIP service

Australia's Primus Telecom launched a broadband Voice over Internet Protocol service that offers a flat rate of 10 cents per call.
Primus unveiled TalkBroadband on Monday, saying in a news release that users can access the service directly through a broadband connection without the need for a computer.

"TalkBroadband is easy to install and use as a supplement to a customers' standard telephone," said Primus Managing Director Greg Wilson. "You don't have to be a computer wizard."

The service is modeled after the Lingo VoIP service Primus markets in the United States and is aimed at small-business customers.

Primus offers broadband service at less than $10 per month and international calling over TalkBroadband starting at 2.7 cents per minute.
