Briefs: Motorola opens 17th R&D center in China

Motorola opened its 17th research facility in China in Hangzhou.
The latest center will provide Chinese operators with local access to the mobile group's network technologies. In addition, the facility will develop local talent and improve Motorola's foothold in the Chinese market.

"To best meet customer needs and generate high return on investment, China's operators not only want 3G technologies; they are looking into the opportunities created by other networks and services. With the establishment of the new Hangzhou R&D center, Motorola is taking another step towards addressing the specific needs of operators in the China market by developing seamless mobility strategies that will generate new sources of revenue and differentiate service offerings," Simon Leung, regional president of Motorola Asia Pacific, said in a news release.
