Briefs: 140M homes expected to have DVRs by 2010
More than 140 million homes worldwide will have digital video recorders by 2010, a survey found Friday.
Boston-based Strategy Analytics reported in its study on the subject that there were 17.4 million DVRs globally by the end of 2005, and they are currently found in 12 percent of all U.S. homes. That number is expected to exceed 50 percent within the next four years.
"The market has been slower to take off in Europe, but even in Europe 25 percent of homes will have DVRs by 2010, up from only 2 percent in 2005," the group said.
