Baby seals dying in Baltic Sea
German conservationists said a warm winter has left hundreds of baby seals dying of cold and starvation in the Baltic Sea.
A spokeswoman for the World Wildlife Federation said 300 to 400 ringed seal pups have died this winter in the Baltic Sea north of Germany, Deutsche Welle reported.
A lack of ice appears to have lured seal pups into the water too early, the newspaper said. Scientists said the region has experienced of one of the warmest winters in almost 300 years.
