Unusual Earthquakes Measured Off Oregon

(AP) -- Scientists listening to underwater microphones have detected an unusual swarm of earthquakes off central Oregon, something that often happens before a volcanic eruption - except there are no volcanoes in the area.

The article mentions 600 quakes in the last 10 days. If you look into the data, there were not 600 quakes in the last 10 days in that area. There were a few, but nothing resembling 600.
Or was the author trying to make it more fantastic by equating "600 quakes" to mean "600 quakes and aftershocks"?
We must be clear on these things.
