Feinstein to collaborate with Karolinska
April 14, 2008The Feinstein Institute in Manhasset, N.Y., says it will join with Sweden's Karolinska Institute in exchanging graduates for post-doctoral research.
The collaborative agreement paves the way for Karolinska graduates to conduct post-doctoral research in New York and scientists from Feinstein to study at the Karolinska's laboratories in Stockholm.
"The Karolinska Institute is always looking for outstanding training environments for their graduates," said Dr. Kevin Tracey, director of the Feinstein Institute. "And we want the students of our Elmezzi Graduate School of Molecular Medicine to have a challenging post-doctoral career as well. It couldn't be a better fit."
Tracey said the collaboration will mean as many as half a dozen scientists at each school might be able to study abroad, with a joint admissions committee from both institutes reviewing applications and making the selections.
The graduate students at the Karolinska and Feinstein Institutes are medical doctors who have obtained a doctoral degree in research.
