A city outside California has for the first time been named the sootiest in the nation, one of the categories the American Lung Association uses to determine the most polluted cities in the country. (AP) -- A city outside California has for the first time been named the sootiest in the nation, one of the categories the American Lung Association uses to determine the most polluted cities in the country. Los Angeles still took the all-around pollution title, though.

I had to laugh at this one. Pittsburgh, once the steel capital of America and Los Angeles, where the air once was thick enough to cut are still vying for the dirtiest air award!
It would be interesting to see a graph of how these cities have cleaned up their acts! I'll be it has been substantial!
