EU pushes open-source standard as 'smart business'
June 10, 2008 By AOIFE WHITE , AP Business Writer(AP) -- The EU's top antitrust official called Tuesday on member governments to use open-source software, an apparent jab at Microsoft Corp.'s proprietary technology.

I am usually in favor of open source but if the EU is promoting it as "smart business", it might be time to take a more critical look at it. The EU believes that being unaccountable, overly centralized, relentlessly bureaucratic, socialist and corrupt is "smart business".- report abuse

I'm sure the non EU nations are licking their chops hoping the the EU bureaucrats launch a large, tightly regulated program to replace Microsoft with their open source software.- report abuse
