EU pushes open-source standard as 'smart business'

(AP) -- The EU's top antitrust official called Tuesday on member governments to use open-source software, an apparent jab at Microsoft Corp.'s proprietary technology.

    I am usually in favor of open source but if the EU is promoting it as "smart business", it might be time to take a more critical look at it. The EU believes that being unaccountable, overly centralized, relentlessly bureaucratic, socialist and corrupt is "smart business".

    I'm sure the non EU nations are licking their chops hoping the the EU bureaucrats launch a large, tightly regulated program to replace Microsoft with their open source software.
