Microsoft has always had to buy technology. The companies they buy technology from generally go out of business.

This seems to have gone from a hostile takeover attempt to a vendetta. Otherwise, why the partnership with Icahn?

Hope Yahoo continues to resist Microsoft's attempt to put them out of business.

It seems to me Balmer overbid at $33 for a company that like Microsoft has been losing market share to Google. Yahoo clearly doesn't deserve much premium at all. I think Gates pulled back the reins on Balmer fortunately. Jerry was too ignorant to realize it was a gift horse. This is the mistake of putting the founder in as
CEO. Its like a father being asked to marry off his 9 year old daughter, not a chance.(except in Muslim countries of course). However as CEO he needs to realize that he has a fiduciary duty to all shareholders and put them ahead of his own desires for his baby. Regardless, Micorosft has come to their senses and no deal will happen as long as Jerry is at the helm. Two years and Yahoo won't be trading on the market at all.
