More women are having fewer children, if at all

(AP) -- More women in their early 40s are childless, and those who are having children are having fewer than ever before, the Census Bureau said Monday.

    "Unemployed women had about twice as many babies as working women, although women in the labor force accounted for the majority - 57 percent - of recent births."

    That is a scary statistic. 43% of new babies are born to an unemployed mother? That sounds incredibly high, yet not suprising. I'd like to know their criteria for for 'unemployed', or the percentage of babies born below the poverty line or into welfare systems. I know they said 1/4 of the mothers were below the poverty line, but from my observation, most (NOT ALL) of them tend to have lots of babies.

    stop making assumptions. Unemployed may also mean that they are stay-at-home moms.

    Advances in contraceptive gave women the same power as men- all pleasure, no pain (of carrying child). You read in the rest of the implications.
