New software turns PC into TiVo TV recorder

(AP) -- TiVo Inc. and Nero AG of Germany were set to announce Monday that they will be launching a package that turns a Windows PC into a TV recorder, just like a TiVo set-top box.

    Now if only I didn't need the tuner... because the video could be downloaded overnight via broadband... yet still have the Tivo look and feel... THEN I'll buy. Else I'm quite happy with the Media Center software that came with my PC.

    Hmm...use TiVo where they make you pay monthly for a programming guide that is distributed for free or use something more configurable like Media Center, SageTV, or BeyondTV with NO monthly fees...I choose free. TiVo will not last on their interface alone, they better innovate somehow...

    i don't get it. The article says TiVo is a TV recorder. but the kit includes a TV Tuner. Is this free-to-air TV or what?
