New Sony Reader has light, note-taking stylus
(AP) -- Sony Corp. unveiled a new e-book reader Thursday with a built-in light and a touch-sensitive display, features that set it apart from Amazon.com Inc.'s competing Kindle reader.

The lack of wireless will be a deal killer for most people. Especially since the Kindle is $40 cheaper. The lights sound good though.

And "PRS-700"? Come on, that's what the marketing department seriously came up with?

I don't see the lack of wireless as an issue. Cross-loading from a PC would be fine. An impulse buy of a book would for me be relatively rare since the reading of the "stock" in the device would take some time.

Wireless browsing would be an excellent addition, though. I think the fact that Kindle charges for free iNET items is a real negative.

I wouldn't mind something like this that would handle regular PDF's since I do a lot of referencing while using my "current primary" computer..

I'm personally okay with it not being wireless, since it at least supports multiple data types. The Kindle only supports their propritary files and txt files.
