Can the airlines just drop their flights to 95% of what they flew in 2005?

Why play the carbon tax game? Just cut back on services.

This appears to be an opportunity for Switzerland (not part of the EU) to see growth in the number of international flights unless they decide to participate in this decision.

I think not ricky as all flights in and out of switzerland fly over EU airspace so are subject to EU law, and switzerland adopts most of the same stuff the EU does!

"This will be the end of unopposed AGW legislation."

I hope so. It's going to be difficult to keep up the AGW scam if the planet keeps cooling.

Finally some one is doing something about aircraft emmissions. Too me this seems as likely to put airline companies out of business as putting seat bealts in cars put automotive companies out of business. Yes we will see some airline companies go under but this seems pretty standard in last decade or two for airline companies to screw up and go out of business all by themselves.

The French had the right idea in 1789.
The First Estate (then the clergy now the Goreist scam religion) and The Second Estate (then and now the ruling "class",or the EU Politbureau) were ripping us peasants off with taxes.
    Time for a Revolution!
No matter how they word or what excuses they use for these taxes,WE,the disposable underdogs pay.
The parasites at the top just up their pay or write it off as "expenses".

I like the idea of just cutting services to countries participating in the Gorescam. Help them return to the low carbon lifestyle they seem to crave. Don't sell them washing machines until they start hollering about beating their clothes with rocks.

Don't worry, this legislation will do that for them.

This will be a boon for those countries surrounding the EU. As long as they have some kind of rail or shipping routes to the EU that can handle those unwilling to pay the tariffs this will impose.

Half the reason why the many rail systems world wide were dismantled is because it's far easier and faster to ship by air than by rail. It also pollutes a hell of a lot less. Effectively they're either stiffling their market through increasing price of transmission, or their going to double their shipping based pollutant output.

That's a win for the environmentalists....

I say we outlaw any mode of transportation that, directly or indirectly, produces CO2.

    Whoops, that's everything.
