Japan scientists eye made-to-order bones

Japanese hospitals are running a clinical trial on the world's first custom-made bones which would fit neatly into patients' skulls and eventually give way to real bones.

    its unlikely that ordinary people would have a detailed spatial map of their facial bone structure, which this technique appears to require. There is software which can build 3d maps of buildings from photographs. Perhaps this same software could be modified to build maps of skulls from photographs of the patient before the accident?
