(AP) -- Less than two months after federal food regulators said they were unable to set a safety threshold for the industrial chemical melamine in baby formula, they announced a standard that allows for higher levels than those found in U.S.-made batches of the product.

Totally unacceptable. You get me an officials for the Food and Drug Administration that has kids, let me talk to BOTH parents. I'm sure there will be no discussion. "Our child will not eat poison" is the only choice this couple will make in an honest choice.

The issue of these chemicals being too much, too little, or just right in any processed animal food mixture begs the question why they're used in their production in the first place. Cost cutting incentives for higher profit margins best not be the chosen excuse.

For the many infants brought up on and weaned off baby formula containing these chemicals it is a little late for never. The experiment of exposure continues.
