Google bundles coverage from NY Times, Wash. Post

(AP) -- Google is testing a new service that packages stories from The New York Times and The Washington Post to make it easier for readers to follow evolving news stories.

The "Living Stories" project introduced Tuesday marks Inc.'s latest attempt to frame itself as an ally of the ailing newspaper industry.

Some newspaper publishers view Google as part of their problem. They depict Google as a leech that has profited by showing snippets of their online stories and photographs.

In the experiment with two of the nation's largest newspapers, Google is bundling ongoing stories under categories, such as health care reform, executive pay and the Washington Redskins.

The newspapers aren't being paid by Google.
