TEAC Introduces New External 3.5 Inch and 2.5 Inch Slim HDDs

TEAC, a premier manufacturer of DVD-Recorders, CD-RW, CD-RW/DVDROM Drives, DVD-ROM, CD-ROM,
Internal and USB Floppy Drives, USB Flash Drives, and Duplicators, announces the launch of its new line of External 3.5" USB 2.0, USB2.0/Firewire Combo, and 2.5" USB 2.0 Slim Portable Hard Disk Drives.

Hard Disk Drive (HDD):
The mechanism that reads and writes data on a hard disk. Hard disk drives (HDDs) for PCs generally have seek times of about 12 milliseconds or less. Many disk drives improve their performance through a technique called caching.
Hard disk drives are sometimes called Winchester drives, Winchester being the name of one of the first popular hard disk drive technologies developed by IBM in 1973.

The new TEAC External Hard Disk Drives will debut at Consumer Electronics Show 2005 (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, January 6-9th at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

"With the recent growth in Digital Video and Still Cameras, users require more storage space. External Hard Drives provide the simple installation with one USB cable or Firewire cable. No need to open the computer, format or partition hard drive," says Les Luzar, Division Manager, TEAC America, Inc.

"External Hard Disk drives can be used to move large documents from one computer to another due to their portability. One External Hard Disk drive can be used on multiple PCs, including the Home PC, Work PC and laptops."

TEAC's 3.5" External Hard Disk Drives are available in USB 2.0 and USB 2.0 / Firewire (Combo). They are available in 40GB, 80GB, 120GB, 160GB, 200GB and 250GB capacities. TEAC's 2.5" Slim Portable Hard Disk Drives are available in USB 2.0. They are available in 40GB, 60GB and 80GB capacities.

TEAC External Hard Disk drives feature all-aluminum case designs which maximize heat dissipation and keeps the hard disk drive running much cooler for optimum performance. The drives include full version NTI Backup software version 3.0 for all models and capacities.

TEAC 3.5" USB2.0 and USB2.0/Firewire Hard Disk Drives, HDU/KIT Series, are currently available through TEAC America's Distribution partners and on TEAC's web site http://www.Shopteac.com. TEAC's 2.5" Slim Mobile USB2.0 Hard Disk Drives, HD2U/KIT Series, will be available through TEAC America's Distribution partners and on TEAC's web site from January 30th, 2005.
