Doubling Down On Intel-Based Servers

July 11th, 2005 Doubling Down On Intel-Based Servers

Intel Corporation today introduced the dual-core Intel Pentium D processor-based platform for entry-level servers that includes two processor cores in one processor and the corresponding Intel E7230 chipset.

With highly competitive pricing, this platform is a great value for smaller businesses wishing to buy powerful entry-level servers. Intel's new platform includes many unique and innovate enterprise-class features such as PCI Express I/O, 64-bit addressability, DDR2 memory and software RAID.

Today's introduction follows already- introduced dual-core processors for Intel-based desktops and workstations and is the first in what will be an extensive family of Intel-based dual-core server products shipping later this year and in 2006.

The Intel E7230 chipset starts at $36 each based on quantities of 1,000 units. Pricing for the Intel Pentium D processor is available at http://www.intel.com/intel/finance/pricelist/
