Noguchi encourages children from space

Japanese children fighting incurable diseases received a message from the Japanese astronaut who has carried their pictures into space on the shuttle Discovery.
Soichi Noguchi sent an e-mail message to the Japanese volunteer organization "Make a Wish of Japan," which works to help make the dreams of children with incurable diseases come true, the Mainichi Shimbun reported Monday.

"You may also face many challenges in your daily lives. But those challenges will definitely lead to the fulfillment of your dreams. The higher the wall, the greater the joy is when you overcome it," Noguchi said.

Noguchi told "Make a Wish of Japan" he wanted to take a memento on his flight. The organization asked for pictures of children with terminal disease and put 101 of them on a flag.
