Toshiba offers hourly mobile broadband

September 1, 2005

Toshiba is offering Internet access for mobile users at an hourly rate rather than a flat monthly fee.

MyConnect is available at $3.95 per hour with no monthly obligation and allows mobile laptop users to connect to the Internet using wireless hot spots or dialup numbers around the United States.

"Less frequent business travelers, students and other mobile computer users will appreciate the flexibility and low cost of the pay-for-use program," said Raja Narayanan, vice president of mobility solutions for Digital Products Division, Toshiba America Information Systems.

MyConnect is a data-only service that works on Windows 2000 or later operating systems. Users are billed monthly and can monitor their tabs through a company Web site.
