F4W tactical net deployed for storm relief

September 2, 2005

A Florida firm has deployed an emergency voice-data broadband network for use by emergency agencies involved in hurricane-relief efforts in Mississippi.

F4W of Lake Mary said its Tactical Wireless Emergency Broadband Network provides secure Internet and phone service to vehicles, boats and various command posts and will also allow video surveillance of locations such as food-distribution centers and major roadway intersections.

Allan Edwards, CEO of F4W, said, "In an area of vast devastation with no traditional phone lines, cell phone or public safety radio services, the TWEB network will provide critical communications for relief agencies and a lifeline from the disaster area to the outside world."

The TWEB was used last year after Hurricane Charley.
