Ericsson, NEC to work together on 3G

Ericsson said Thursday it has agreed to license its third-generation phone platform to NEC.

The company said NEC will be using its U250 platform for WCDMA networks in Europe. For its part, NEC agreed to provide 3G mobile terminals to Ericsson to strengthen further its capabilities in third-generation phone networks.

Financial details of the agreement between the Swedish group and the Japanese electronics giant were not disclosed.
