Briefs: Czech Vodafone with Ericsson 3G network

April 3, 2006

Ericsson will build up the third-generation mobile network for Vodafone in the Czech Republic.

The Swedish group said the core network will be completed by the end of June, allowing Vodafone to provide a wide range of new multimedia services in the country. In addition, the new network will improve Vodafone's capacity and coverage to meet growing demands in the Czech market, Ericsson said.

"We want to make sure Vodafone's 3G services are delivered to customers seamlessly over a reliable network. We believe that choosing Ericsson as one of our 3G network vendors represents a big step to achieve just that," Fred Hrenchuk, vice president for technology at the British mobile company's Czech operations, said in a news release.

Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
