Yahoo! Internet services will soon be available to users of BlackBerry wireless devices.

Research in Motion and Yahoo! announced Wednesday they had struck a deal to provide functions such as e-mail, messaging and Internet searches over the ubiquitous BlackBerry in a single package that can be accessed with a click on a single icon.

"Our collaboration with Yahoo will deliver increasingly rich content and services, including enhanced support for Yahoo! Mail, to BlackBerry customers in over sixty countries," said RIM Chairman Jim Balsillie.

A key feature of the offer will be real-time e-mail delivery as well as greater synchronization of deleted and sent messages and updating of the read or unread status of the message queue.

"Future development plans will also allow Yahoo users to import, modify and synchronize their Yahoo Address Book and Yahoo Calendar entries using their BlackBerry devices," the release said.
