Microsoft, Siemens work on BBC network

Microsoft said Friday it will work with Siemens to develop a network solution for the media industry.

The software giant said the system will be based on its Office software and will "help media companies work more effectively, both externally with partners such as production companies and post-production houses as well as internally among employees."

Microsoft said Britain's BBC network will be the first company to benefit from the partnership between it and German electronics group Siemens.

In a news release, Vikas Agrawal, head of Siemens' business services strategy, said that "working with Microsoft, we will be able to design an integrated solution using industry-leading technologies and off-the-shelf products to support media companies. Again, the BBC is at the forefront of this new and highly innovative approach to working."
