In Brief: Yahoo! names new senior VP for research

Yahoo! named Qi Lu as senior vice president of engineering for research and search marketing.

Lu will lead development efforts of the Internet search engine's search and monetization platforms, the company said.

"Over the past few years, Qi has attracted some of the best and brightest talent, amassing a world-class team of Search engineers. He also has made tremendous progress with various Yahoo! services including the development of the Yahoo! Search platform," Chief Technology Officer Farzad Nazem said in a news release. "He is a proven thought leader in Web search and he will continue to be a valuable asset to the long-term growth goals of Yahoo!'s engineering team," he added.
