SAIC finishes aquisition of GSTI

Research company Science Applications International Corporation announced Tuesday it has completed its acquisition of Geo-Spatial Technologies Inc.
According to SAIC, the acquisition of GSTI's geospatial 3-D imaging and remote sensing and mapping systems will enhance SAIC's industry position in developing next-generation systems for urban warfare and homeland security applications.

"Combining GSTI's capability with SAIC's outstanding advanced technology development will allow us to pursue larger and more ambitious R&D and system integration contracts within the defense and homeland security market," said Chris Moscoso, former president and chief executive officer of GSTI. "An enhanced portfolio of complementary technologies, services and expertise, will help us offer better solutions to current and future customers. We are very excited to join the SAIC team."

The 45 members of GSTI will transition into SAIC's Technology, Research, and Integration business unit.

SAIC, which generated revenue of $7.2 billion in 2005, is the largest U.S. employee-owned research and engineering company.
