Motorola unviels football vid-game headset

Motorola Inc. unveiled Wednesday the Motorola Gaming Headset X205 for football video-game enthusiasts.
The headset design is based on the actual headsets worn by NFL coaches with the intention of maximizing the intensity of the football video-gaming experience, the company said.

Users of the headset, which also comes with a premium full mono ear cup, will be able to call the shots with a noise-canceling microphone that supports clear voice recognition commands while still communicating with others in a room.

Its design features include inline mute and volume controls and is compatible with both the Xbox 360 video game from Microsoft and Sony Playstation 2 gaming models, Motorola also said.

"We are thrilled to step into the gaming space with this unique experience for football video game enthusiasts," said Joe Hartsig, senior director, MobileME, Motorola Inc. "Motorola headsets have been worn on the field by NFL coaches for years. That's why the Gaming Headset X205 is the perfect product to launch Motorola's expanding video game portfolio."

According to Motorola, this is the first in an expanding portfolio for the video-game space.

The headset is expected to be available to consumers in the first half of 2006, but Motorola will be showcasing it at demo kiosks in the Microsoft Xbox booth at the 2006 Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, it said.
