National Semi unveils 3G ADC converters
September 26, 2005National Semiconductor Monday unveiled a trio of new 3-gigahertz analog-to-digital converters (ADC) designed for low noise and miserly power consumption.
National said in a news release that the new converters are the first in the market to offer 8-bit ADC functions at inputs of 3 gigabits per second and with power requirements of a modest 1.9 watts.
The breakthrough, National said, will allow engineers to design smaller products without fans and heat sinks.
"Every time we increase performance and sampling speed, we enable new architectures in communications systems and test and measurement equipment where these ADCs are employed," observed National Product Director Antonio Visconti.
The new products, dubbed the ADC08D500, ADC081500 and ADC08D1500, are priced at $125, $215 and $350, respectively.
