In Brief: NuVisions WiFi expanded in New York City

May 25, 2006

The coverage area of WiFi service carried over building wiring in New York City has been expanded.

Microwave Satellite Technologies' NuVisions service is now available by subscription in several wide-area hot spots in Manhattan and on Roosevelt Island.

"Expansion of our WiFi network within New York City allows us to offer consumers paid-for access and value-added features," said MST President Frank Matarazzo, who added that MST planned to deploy yet another 50 NuVisions hot zones before the end of the year.

Telkonet said in a news release that NuVisions took advantage of its technology that carries broadband existing building wiring, which also allows in-house Internet access simply by plugging in to a standard electric outlet.
