Dell China opened a new manufacturing facility Tuesday in Xiamen, doubling the company's Chinese production capacity.

The 594,000-square-foot facility will turn out a number of products for the Asia market, including Inspirion notebooks, PowerEdge servers and desktop computers.

Dell's first factory in Xiamen has served the Chinese direct-to-customer market exclusively since 1998. Steve Felice, head of Dell's operations in the Asia-Pacific region, called the new factory "another illustration of Dell's long-term commitment to and the tremendous opportunity in this important country."
