KT Powertel and RIM Tuesday launched BlackBerry service for the first time in South Korea.

KT Powertel, formerly Korea Telecom, is offering business customers the BlackBerry 7100i with "push-to-talk" capabilities over KT's network.

"BlackBerry is a strong addition to our offering of 'total business communications solutions," said KT Powertel Chief Executive Officer Kim Woosik. "KT Powertel will address the mobility needs of the corporate market in Korea."

The BlackBerry 7100i has 64 megabytes of flash memory along with a keyboard-touchpad arrangement that will be familiar to Korean users who wish to either place a call or type an e-mail message.
