Veoh runs public tests of peer-share video

September 28, 2005

A California company has launched public testing of a peer-sharing video network.

Veoh Networks said this week its 1.0 Beta allows video producers to publish their works on the network, where consumers can find specific images they are looking for.

Veoh said its system will allow movie studios, television networks and independent producers to make their videos available to basically anyone with a broadband connection.

"Over the next few months you will see a wide expansion of our offerings," said Veoh CEO Dimitry Shapiro. "In the meantime, there are thousands of shows now that viewers can watch and enjoy."

Shapiro pointed out that Veoh is by no means an outlaw P2P file-sharing network but rather was closely edited and integrated with Google Video and RSS.
