Ofcom said that digital terrestrial television took over traditional analog TV sets for the first time, while digital satellite was the most popular digital television platform in the country, viewed by 8.3 million households in the country. Of those, 7.7 million subscribe to BSkyB.

The number of cable subscribers, on the other hand, totaled about 3.3 million, Ofcom said.
