In Brief: Bird flu virus found in eastern Ukraine
June 12, 2006An outbreak of bird flu has been confirmed in an eastern Ukraine village near the Russian border, the Novosti news agency reported Monday.
Officials said several thousands of domestic fowl were culled in the village of Peski although there was no imminent threat to people.
Ukraine previously reported other several bird flu outbreaks, following one in which more than 150,000 domestic fowl were culled in 40 locations around the Crimean Peninsula, RIA Novosti said.
